MHP launches pilot project on Ukrainian soil fertility recovery

10/04/2020

MHP launched a pilot project “Revitalization of soil fertility with organic fertilizers” on the basis of its biogas complex in the Vinnytsia region (near Ladyzhyn).

The biogas complex is a high-tech facility that converts agriculture organic waste into green energy and clean organic fertilizers according to the global environmental standards.

Organic biofertilizers produced by the biogas complex have a high content of the necessary nutrients for plants. This allows to increase the humus content, de-acidify the soil and restore fertility. The use of organic fertilizers can be a very serious basis for the development of organic farming and lead Ukraine into the world leaders in organic production.

In March 2020, a pilot fertilizer application was made on the farmer’s fields of the Tulchyn district of Vinnytsia region (Fig.1) within the framework of the project “Revitalization of soil fertility through organic fertilizers”.

During the pilot phase, liquid organic fertilizers produced on the biogas complex were put on the farmer’s fields. On average, in 2019 in the central regions of Ukraine, rainfall has reached an extremely poor mark for these regions  320-360 mm. And the optimum amount of rainfall for which the introduction of crops is advisable is at least 720-750 mm. Therefore, without additional moistening to expect good results in vain. Thus, as a result of the pilot project, in addition to all the necessary nutrient complexes, with organic fertilizers, a sufficient level of moisture was introduced into the land, which is so critical to the yield.

MHP and its biogas complex can become the basis for a strong development of organic products not only in Tulchyn and Trostyanets regions but throughout the Vinnitsa region and Ukraine. Advantages of organic fertilizers produced on MHP biogas complexes are: versatility; increasing humus content; improvement of water and air regime of soils; contain the full range of essential NPKs, macro- and trace elements, soil-enhancing organic compounds and humic acids;allow to increase productivity; ability to acidify soils; comply with ecological and organic farming practices; fertilizers can be applied at any time of the year; absence of pathogenic organisms.

The use of organic fertilizers creates the preconditions for the development of organic agricultural production, which will allow farmers, in the long run, to increase the income from the sale of products.

Our goal is the sustainable and balanced development of the agricultural sector in the region, which is based on environmentally friendly production.

Organic production, green energy, and a clean environment are the basis of human health and, accordingly, the main components of disease prevention and epidemics.
